The inspiration for this work stems from the family history research I was doing at the time. As my family is from Emilia-Romagna and Sicily, I began to become interested in the the flavors from Northern Italy and Italy’s largest island. Learning more about the flavor profiles from all around Italy inspired me to better understand the historical Mediterranean pattern work. I knew there were many Italian sauce brands on the shelves in American stores, so I wanted to pull in as much history and culture as I could to make this brand stand out from the competition. This can be seen in each sauce’s flavor, and the jar’s colors, patterns, typography, and written story on the label.

Vivace is deeply rooted in the Mediterranean style that can be found throughout Italy. Each pattern, was created with specific regions in mind. The colors of each label relate to the colors of each region’s flag.
